Where your money goes

What we do with the money you raise

Cancer Research UK scientistsThe money raised from your Donate in Memory page can help beat cancer by funding Cancer Research UK’s vital work across the UK.

We are leading the world in finding new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer.

And our groundbreaking work has been at the heart of the progress that has seen survival rates for cancer double in the last 30 years.

Our progress in beating cancer

Thanks to our work, more people are beating cancer than ever before. Here are just some examples of how the picture has changed:

  • The death rate from bowel cancer has dropped by almost a quarter. That’s thanks to greater awareness, earlier detection and better treatments.
  • Almost two thirds of women diagnosed with breast cancer now are expected to survive for at least 20 years.
  • The incidence rate for cervical cancer has dropped by almost a quarter, largely due to screening. Cancer Research UK helped develop and improve the cervical screening programme.

Our vision for the future

We’ve made some amazing progress, but too many lives are still affected by cancer. That’s why it's vital that our work, which is funded entirely by the public, continues.
