Fundraising tips

Simple ways to start your fundraising

Cancer Research UK donation gobletHow you choose to fundraise in memory of your loved one is as individual as the person you are remembering.

If you need help getting started we’ve come up with some ideas that you might find useful.

Share your page

Letting your family and friends know about your page is the quickest and easiest way to start your fundraising.

Simply email them a link to the page so that they can make a donation and add their own message of remembrance. Their contributions will help build a growing tribute in memory of your loved one.

To make this even easier, we have put together some email templates that you can personalise at any time when you log in.

Funeral arrangements

Many people choose to use their Donate in Memory page to let people know about their funeral arrangements.

When you share your page, you can pass on information about the service and ask family and friends to make a donation online instead of buying flowers.

If you are placing an announcement in your local newspaper you can include information about your loved one’s page and request donations be made in their memory.

You can create personalised notification cards with details about your loved one’s page to go inside an order of service or cards.  You can find the templates for these in the printable materials area when you log in.

You can also print off donation slips for anyone wishing to make a donation by cheque or phone so that their contribution can be added to your page total.

Other ways to grow your loved one’s tribute

  • Be the first to start the fundraising by making a donation to your page.
  • Hold a fundraising event and add any money raised to your loved one’s page. It could simply be a meal with family or friends where you share stories to commemorate the life of your loved one.
  • Your page will stay open for as long as you want it to so family and friends can remember your loved one by making a contribution to your page to mark a special occasion.
