Every year more than 10,300 people in the UK are diagnosed with malignant melanoma the most serious form of skin cancer, and it claims almost 2,000 lives.
In October 2010 our Dad was diagnosed with advanced stage malignant melanoma.
He was given 6-12 months to live because few treatments can control this very aggressive cancer. Dad received excellent care from the staff at Newcastle Hospitals, and the Bobby Robson centre in particular. He fought a strong battle against the cancer, but unfortunately it was not enough to prevent the disease spreading.
Cancer research UK funds skin cancer research in the UK. The research programme ranges from uncovering the causes of the disease to developing new treatments for patients.
If you are a UK taxpayer you can add 25% to your donation at no extra cost to you by simply ticking the Gift Aid box when you donate.
Dad was only 57 when he passed, and has missed out on so much in life. We ask that you kindly donate in memory of Dad, so that other families may not suffer in the way that we have.
